Thailand Sends Back 80,000 Deported Cambodians in Banteay Meanchey This Year

BANTEAY MEANCHEY: According to a report from the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration, Thai authorities have deported this year 80,692 Cambodian workers illegally living and working in the neighbor country, crossing through Banteay Meanchey province, including 31,947 women and 8,788 children.

The report has been compiled from 16 of December 202 to 15 of December in this year in Banteay Meanchey province. Among them, Poipet Port received more than 57,000 workers, O Bei Choan received more than 62,000 workers, Malai received more than 7,500 workers, while Boeung Trakoun and Osmach have 4,600 workers.

The report was disseminated at the Coordinating Meeting on Safe Migration and Prevention of Human Trafficking (Women and Children), strengthening the partnership between local authorities and the NGO Network for Child Protection held in the auditorium Poipet City Hall on Thursday.

Deputy Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, Ros Sophany spoke at the meeting, urging all stakeholders in the province to provide information and services to the families of migrants, especially migrant workers to Thailand to promote safe activities of migration and prevention of human trafficking.
